In the late 1970’s The Old Northside was placed on the National Register of Historical Places. Shortly after that, the City of Indianapolis adopted The Old Northside Historic Preservation Plan. Since that time, the area has experienced a renaissance with virtually all of the historic buildings having been renovated and historically sympathetic in-fill structures have been added, making The Old Northside one of the premier historic districts in the Midwest. The Old Northside is both an Indianapolis historic district with a rich past and an active, urban neighborhood community in the present day.
